Phoenix World Theatre will be conducting a two-day workshop on shadow puppetry under the guidance of Rajeev Pulavar.

Although shadow puppetry used to be an integral part of our culture, the art has been on the decline in the recent past. In an attempt to bring back the lost glory of shadow puppetry, various shows and workshops are being organised.

Phoenix World Theatre will be conducting a two-day workshop on shadow puppetry under the guidance of Rajeev Pulavar. Rajeev who is the son of award winning artist KK Ramachandra Pulavar currently heads the only surviving shadow puppetry group in Kerala.

Phoenix World Theatre intends to integrate shadow puppetry into their upcoming play ‘ In search of Layla’ by Will Shepherd. The story is about star-crossed lovers from Persian and Arabian folklore - Layla and Majnun. The production house states that this version of their story is quite different from what is popular, where Majnun is the central protagonist. This production, however, centres around Layla.

The workshop will be held on November 20 and 21 from 10am to 5pm at Lakshmi Narayana Apartments, Kadavanthra. The age limit is set at 18 years and above. For registration and other details contact 99633174304, 8943669937.

Lunch and other refreshments will be provided for the participants.
