Students and teachers stage a single, classic play, The Sound of Music

Over 400 students from pre-primary to Class XII participated in the show which was witnessed by an audience of over 1,000 people.

Mumbai: It was a massive display of talent at the Hyderabad Public School’s annual day celebration held on the school premises in Begumpet on Friday evening. While annual days generally see a wide range of cultural performances on stage, the school decided to try something new this time and brought together all the students and teachers to stage a single, classic play, The Sound of Music.

Over 400 students from pre-primary to Class XII participated in the show which was witnessed by an audience of over 1,000 people, comprising mostly parents. The presentation was a culmination of nearly two months of practice that followed an intense audition procedure where students were selected based on their abilities to play the various characters.

The elaborate musical was planned in order to showcase the theatrical talent of the kids and lasted for an hour and 45 minutes. Making it a night of pure theatre, the set-up was truly grand with an expansive stage and professional floodlights in place.
