Tick-tact-toe the line!

The Kapil Sharma-Sunil Grover spat has seen fans take a divided stand. But it is not advisable to do so, believe experts.

The spat between Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover only seems to be getting trickier with every passing day. With much already being said and written about the duo’s tiff, what has risen its ugly head is the frenzy that transpired on social media between ardent fans lashing out online, in defense of their favourite celeb. While the episode still lies hanging on an ambiguous note, the pattern of third party wars going overboard during celebrity tiffs isn’t a rare occurrence. Not too long ago, the infamous SRK-Sallu Bhai cold war led to a series of hate messages being exchanged by ardent followers and fan clubs of the two stars, only to simmer down when the stars involved came on record and assured all was well between the two. Back on the home front, the much-talked about recent fallout between Challenging Star, Darshan and Kichcha Sudeep had set tongues wagging.

Sandalwood actress Sumalatha Ambareesh clearly stated how spats should be dealt with between two responsible adults. “I’m quite dismayed by the unwanted attention given to certain issues. Spats or arguments are common and are a part and parcel of every industry, including ours. It is important for fans to have a say, for after all, it’s the fan who makes an individual a star. That said, it’s always a good idea respect people’s decisions and give them space, especially when it doesn’t affect your life on a personal level. Social media is a brilliant platform, but I hope people are tactful enough to use it for bigger and better causes for themselves,”states Sumalatha.

Adding to how taking sides on a raging topic to prove your loyalty towards a particular star is a little far-stretched, psychologist Sriya Rao opines, “One must understand the fragility of celeb relationships. Once a foe will turn into a friend, even before you know it in the tinsel town. Also, adding to the spark and being out-rightly demeaning is passe, and something people should be aware of. Expressing your views blatantly and being overly sensitive about a newsy topic is like approaching a dead end — there’s no way forward. Express your views, but being a part of third party mud-slinging is something you must never cave in too. Being neutral is the best policy, on the Net!”
