Hyderabad: Chevella Ravi, a comedian popularly known as ‘Bithiri Satti’ the name character played by him in the show Teenmaar News, was physically assaulted at Banjara Hills on Monday. According to the police, on Monday afternoon, when Ravi arrived at his office, one, Manikanta Goud, 26, attacked Ravi. “Manikanta said he attacked Ravi for passing comments against the nation and the state on the show Teenmaar News,” said K. Srinivas, police inspector of Banjara Hills.
The comedian Chevelle Ravi Kumar has created a niche for himself in the small screen industry through his satirical TV programmes in the Telangana dialect. He was accorded the best journalist award on the Telangana Formation Day this year. Based on a complaint, police booked cases under section 341 (wrongful restraint), 324 ( Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of IPC and took him into custody.
