For the 100th day
Bigg Boss has created quite a stir in Tamil television history. The show has become an integral part of many lives in the past three months, and now it is coming to a close after 100 days. With finalists and the fans excited to find out the winner of the show, the finale, undoubtedly, is going to be an eventful one.
The reports about Oviya being part of the last episode is just a cherry on the top for the undying #OviyaArmy! The show now enjoys cult status and a viewership that could rival a cricket series final or a Rajinikanth movie premiere, with many fans planning viewing/ cosplay parties and celebrations for the finale.
Sharanya Subramaniam, an ad filmmaker and casting director in the city, is a huge fan of the show and is organising a unique get together for her fellow fans.
She explains more about the event stating, “The hosts and the guests are planning to dress like each character from the beginning of the show. Before the show, we are planning to conduct tasks imitating the BB contestants. After the 100th day we don’t know what we’re going to do, as this has been an addiction; a topic to discuss everyday.” Sharing that she’ll miss the show terribly, Sharanya also believes that Ganesh Venkatraman will be the winner.
She adds, “After Oviya, he is the most genuine contestant on the show. Many of us feel that he deserves to win. Also, everyone is excited that Oviya is coming on the 100th day. It is one of the highlights.”
Revealing that the show is a bridge of relationships, Sharanya says, “There are many friendships that were purely built on the basis of who supports whom on the show. I’m going to meet many people, who I haven’t seen before — but we’re already friends on social media because we like or hate the same contestants!”
There are other fans who have given up on the show after the exit of their favourite contestant Oviya, but are still curious to know the winner of the house. Model Pradaini Surva, who posted a couple of hilarious spoof videos about Bigg Boss with fellow model and friend Sanchana Natarajan, says she is still invested to know who would be crowned as the winner — “Honestly, I stopped watching regularly after Oviya’s exit and the show also got boring after that. But I want to know who the winner will be, and have planned to watch the finale with my family.”
She adds that Snehan and Aarav are the top contenders. “Also, Harish has a huge fan base, but people can’t overlook the fact that Snehan and Aarav have lasted 100 days in the house.”
Shilpa. T, an event manager and aspiring filmmaker from Chennai, says that a big party has been planned for the Saturday viewing episode, and the theme is Bigg Boss contestants! “My friends and I even made lot of efforts to figure out which character to impersonate. I got Ganja Karuppu and I’m cracking up imagining how I’d look on the day. One of the boys in my group chose Oviya, and he’s getting hair extensions to make his look as realistic as possible! So, you know how seriously we are taking this. We think of life after the show and it seems weird, as this has been our daily routine every evening for three months now! But now many of us want to be on the show, and a couple of actor/ model friends are going all out trying to! Bigg Boss has emerged as the ultimate shortcut to fame these days.”
Actor Sathish is one of the many celebrities who is really invested in this show, and he is a supporter of ‘House Oviya’. The actor who has been on the show once is thrilled to watch the finale — “I would have made some special arrangements if Oviya had still been part of the competition. Nevertheless, I will be watching the show for sure.”
Though he has taken constant digs at Snehan online and even on the show, he predicts that the poet-lyricist will win the title of the first season — “Snehan ‘embraces’ everyone no matter if they are sad or happy. But jokes apart, he has been the one to watch out for everyone in the house. He seems to be really concerned and caring of the inmates.. the title is his to lose. But I also like other contestants; some of them are friends of mine.”
