Bigg Boss 2 has arrived and things are a little different this time around. What started out as the free-ranging and free-speaking actor Kamal Haasan has now become an equally boisterous politician Kamal Haasan. With Ulaganayagan hosting the reality show for the second season, there’s noticeable tension and anticipation given the recent turbulence in the state. And of course, you can surely expect Kamal to charm the audience with his witty yet meaningful one-liners.
Apparently, even as the craze for Oviya with her ‘Oviya Army’ talking about her stint in social media has not really died down, here are a new set of contestants including Mumtaz, Aparnathi, Thaadi Balaji and Yashika Anand who are ready to take the challenge at the Bigg Boss 2 house, in the show commencing today.
My second episode of staying 24 hours at the Bigg Boss 2 house started as usual with the organisers snatching our belongings used for communication (mobiles,) watches, books, money, etc. The only difference is I do so with a fresh set of 14 of my peers. We were given a sling with a mike intact and were asked to retain it on us always except in restrooms and while sleeping. I was blindfolded and escorted to the palatial Bigg Boss 2 house.
New colour scheme and subdued lighting
As you enter, the lush green lawn and a swimming pool give you the much-needed relief on an otherwise hot sultry day. The colours of the large living room and the kitchen are in shades of yellow. The cool blues and lovable pink for the bedrooms were adorable. And even the lighting was a bit more subdued than last year.
What did not change was the dog barking noise that beams out of loudspeakers when you sleep in the daytime.
What’s New?
A jail set outside the house in one corner, which has an iron cot without beds, no fans, or toilet felicities, which sparks your curiosity. In fact, this jail was the first novelty when we entered the Bigg Boss house. Probably, it is a punishment zone and we will know over a period as to who would be lodged and tortured inside.

Spared from cooking
Though the inmates are supposed to take turns and cook for the entire group, we were not given this task. Last time we made our own coffee and tea in the state-of-the –art kitchen. Everything was provided for this year. Food was given at all times and we have to pick it up from the storeroom once the alarm rings.

That’s where the ‘Bigg Boss’ calls us in his deep bass voice and gives instructions. And me being the head of the team this season as well, I was called inside first. I noticed a change. Though the throne like seat was there intact, instead of fiery red coloured lights, it looked plain with a brighter tone. It was more relaxed than last time, perhaps I got used to the rules and regulations of BB2 and we all walked out cheerfully after shaking a leg for the Aalaporan Tamizhan song from Mersal.
