Karan Mehra quits Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai

He was supposed to quit the show in February this year.

Actor Karan Mehra, who skyrocketed to fame as the adorable Naitik Singhania, has finally ended his seven-year-long association with the popular show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.

In a heartbreaking development, the actor who has been suffering from health issues for some time now, finally took the decision to quit the show. While the entire unit and the channel are still reeling from this development, Karan’s departure has been on the cards for sometime now. He was supposed to quit the show in February this year.

However, the channel and the production house convinced him to stay. This time when the actor put in his papers, the show’s makers had to let him go, albeit with a heavy heart.

Confirming the development, Karan, in an exclusive chat with The Deccan Chronicle said, “Yes, it’s true that I have quit. Naitik will no longer be part of the show anymore. Today was my last day. The crew and the cast were like family to me. It’s been a long association with them so saying goodbye was obviously difficult. It wasn’t easy, but I was kind of prepared for it as I had made up my mind some time ago that I have to move on. Honestly, I never wanted to quit but I just could not continue anymore. My health issues were worsening by the day. Even currently, I am on immunotherapy shots. I have developed HAH (High Altitude Headaches) and back spasms and not just that, even my allergies have started acting up. My doctor has ordered me to take it easy if I didn’t want to collapse and reach the ICU. It was high time I looked after myself.”

The actor further added, “I need rest and this break will not only help me recuperate but will help me look after my wife Nisha as well. When my wounds heal I will bounce back recharged and more rejuvenated than ever.” The actor’s fans have been upset ever since the actor’s wife announced the news on a social networking site. A war broke out on Twitter and there have been outbursts from heartbroken fans.

Commenting on the same, Karan says, “My heart goes out to my fans. They have been very supportive all these years. I know that they are upset but I am sure they will continue loving me anyway. Besides, I assure them that the moment my health gets better, I will be back to entertain them.”
