Khushboo's latest avatar on TV!
Khushboo was spotted at Setfire Studios in the city, busy shooting for a promo programme with Mumbai-based still photographer Jayant helming the affair.
When we probed further, we came to know that it was not for a film; but for a reality show titled Nijangal, which she would be hosting on Sun TV. Sources say that the channel was not happy with another top actress who was their favourite until recently and it is for the first time they have brought Khushboo on board for hosting a show.
Khushboo, who was the dream girl of Tamil cinema in 90s, shifted gears to television when she reduced her work on the silver screen. Although she started acting in mega serials on various channels, it was her quirky style of hosting the Jackpot game show on Jaya TV that got attention. Also, more than the content, it was her designer blouses that created a buzz and took the show to heights.
When she entered politics and joined DMK, she was shown the door on Jaya TV. Nevertheless, other channels like Kalaignar and Zee welcomed her with open arms. However, Sun TV, the top player, never gave her a slot although she had started her TV stint through a serial that was aired on it.
In a sudden turn of events, reliable sources inform us that Khushboo has been lured by the channel, and was offered two programmes — the reality show titled Nijangal, said to be produced by the channel that will be aired daily in the afternoon slot, and there might be another slot for a mega soap which is being produced by Khushboo’s banner.
When contacted, the actress-turned-politician who is a national spokesperson of the Congress party, did confirm that she is anchoring the reality show Nijangal and producing a mega venture under her home banner.
Known for sporting unique looks on TV programmes, we ask her about her intriguing getup for the new show. Though she was not too willing to reveal, all she said was, “As usual I will be wearing sarees in pastel shades with black metal jewellery. And for the first time, I will be wearing a big bindi. The rest, you have to see when the promos appear on air,” she says with a smile.
