Ramzan Steps up
No Malayali who had religiously followed the dance show D4 Dance on the telly could ever forget Ramzan Muhammed — the boy who made dancing look effortless. He took home the D4 Dance title in the first season and Malayali’s couldn’t argue with the choice because Ramzan gave performances that stole hearts.
We literally saw him grow up in our living room from a junior dance show contestant to a senior and then winning it. Our happiness doubles when we see Ramzan step into the world of cinema to don a lead role.
Ramzan who has been part of popular movies in the past such as, E Pattanathil Bhootham, Dr Love and Ee Adutha Kalathu, will be seen in the movie aptly titled Dance Dance. Speaking more about the movie and his role he says, “I will be playing the lead role in the movie. Like the name suggests, the movie revolves around a dancer, who dreams of entering an international dance competition from a very young age. We have wound up the shooting, but I am not sure of the release dates. The experience was real good,” says Ramzan in between a dance rehearsal.
Ask Ramzan how the ride has been after the D 4 Dance title win and he says humbly with a smile, “As a dancer I guess I have become somewhat of a celebrity now. I’ve been getting shows and of course the opportunity to improve.”
Ramzan has just completed his Class X and has no plans to put his education on the backburner “Education is of utmost importance right now, but I will tag dance along with it, that’s for sure.” Ask him what subject he has planned to pursue and he says with a chuckle, “I haven't planned that, just waiting for my Class X result now.”
So what will be the future of his dance? “I most definitely want to start a dance school, but after schooling. But I cannot pick between dancing, acting and studies; all three are equally important to me,” he says amidst the crescendo of music in the background waiting for him to groove to it.
