Game of Thrones leak, a double-edged sword
Piracy has hit the Game of Thrones kingdom yet again, as the upcoming fourth episode of Season 7 has been leaked online. The leaked episode has in fact originated from India, as the content carried the watermark of Star India, and also says ‘For internal viewing only’.
While HBO’s servers were breached earlier this week, it is reported that this episode leak was not part of that successful hacking attempt. A Star India spokesperson confirmed the leak, saying, “This confirms the compromise of episode 4 of Game of Thrones Season 7, earlier this afternoon. We take this breach very seriously and have immediately initiated forensic investigations at our and the technology partner’s end to swiftly determine the cause. This is a grave issue and we are taking appropriate legal remedial action.”
While the media and most GoT related websites and social media handles are refraining from posting spoilers, the same cannot be said about the countless users, who are posting crucial information and screenshots from the episode. But a few users are also regretting their decision to watch the episode, saying the quality was poor and that they should have waited until the official telecast.
Another reason to not watch the leak is that it will be tough to wait for an extra few days until the next one! Quite a double-edged sword for fans..
