South Indian Film Producers Unite at SIFPA Meet in Hyderabad

SIFPA reiterated its commitment to building a more unified and constructive ecosystem for South Indian cinema

Hyderabad: The South Indian Film Producers Association (SIFPA) held its second official meeting in Hyderabad on Sunday, bringing together prominent representatives from the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada film industries to discuss key issues impacting the future of South Indian cinema.

The meeting saw active participation from leading producer councils, guilds, and associations representing the collective interests of filmmakers across the four major South Indian film industries. Industry leaders engaged in detailed discussions on several pressing matters, including rising production costs, theatrical exhibition challenges, OTT release window regulations, workforce coordination, sustainable film financing models, and the growing need for stronger collaboration among South Indian language industries.

SIFPA reiterated its commitment to building a more unified and constructive ecosystem for South Indian cinema. The association stressed the importance of transparency, industry stability, and collective growth while encouraging stronger cooperation among producers, distributors, exhibitors, and buyers of film rights.

The discussions also highlighted the need for coordinated policy decisions and better engagement between all sectors connected to the film business. Members expressed confidence that a united approach would help address common industry concerns more effectively and strengthen the position of South Indian cinema at both national and global levels.

As part of its ongoing efforts, SIFPA announced that its next meeting will be held in Cochin on June 14, 2026, where further structured discussions and policy deliberations are expected to continue.

The association’s steering committee stated that such collaborative meetings are essential to ensuring the long-term growth, sustainability, and global reach of South Indian cinema.
