Sonakshi Sinha Calls for Stringent Laws to Monitor Online Abuse

Sonakshi further emphasized that this is a subject which could not be glossed over or tackled in isolation.

Actor Sonakshi Sinha has expressed grave concern about the growing trend of online harassment against actors and film critics. "It is an alarming situation, and very little is being done to regularize it," stated Sonakshi in a recent appearance in Mumbai, during which she spoke against the growing culture of unchecked digital abuse; a video for which has gone viral on social media.

Sonakshi pointed out that online attacks are no longer confined to any particular group. "I have a problem with this open attack on people online," she said, showing distress over how easily people resort to abusive behaviour behind screens. She further added that the issue affects everyone in the public eye, saying, "what happens with everyone happens with actors also, now with the critics too," underlining that actors and critics alike are being targeted.

The Dabangg actor went on to say that the lack of accountability in the digital space has empowered the trolls and aggressors. According to her, anybody sitting anywhere in the world says anything on the internet with no repercussions whatsoever. "Anyone can comment from anywhere and there is not much people can do about it," she remarked, calling the situation deeply unfair and damaging.

Sonakshi further emphasized that this is a subject which could not be glossed over or tackled in isolation. She called for a combined effort to resolve the problem: society must jointly have to find a solution to eliminate this toxic culture. For her, awareness alone was not sufficient.

Calling for stronger legal measures, the actor concluded by advocating the need for stricter cyber laws to regulate online behavior. "I feel we need to have strict laws to control it and keep a check on it," she said, reinforcing the need for accountability and protection in the digital age.
