Chennai: All cinema theatres in the State would be allowed to have six screenings of the new films every day between 6 am and 2.30 am the next day for one week from the date of release, Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay said.
Responding to the demands of the Tamil Film Active Producers Associations, Tamil Film Producers Association and Tamil Nadu theatre and multiplex owners association for allowing six shows in theatres every day from the date of release of new movies, Vijay issued the orders.
While the Tamil Nadu theatres (Regulation) Act of 1957 allowed four shows daily under the Form C licence for all films and five shows on holidays and festivals, the TVK government has been allowing 5 shows for newly released movies on weekends and local holidays.
