Shilpa Shinde’s Statement on Shubhangi Atre Leads to New Brouhaha; Sourabh Raj Jain Brands it ‘Lacking Basic Decency’

The statement made on actress Shilpa Shinde’sFacebook page has raised another debate among television artists and followers of the hit show.

The comeback of Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain 2.0 promised audiences another round of fun and laughter, but before the show could roll out any more comic sequences, yet another controversy outside the show had hit the headlines. The statement made on actress Shilpa Shinde’sFacebook page has raised another debate among television artists and followers of the hit show.

Shilpa, who will soon make a comeback as Angoori Bhabhi after almost a decade in the show, talked about Shubhangi in one of her interviews. When she was told that Shubhangi had appreciated her as a good actress, Shilpa accepted the compliment but continued with her own views. She said that although Shubhangi is a good actress and has done good comedy acts in her shows, not all persons are capable of comedy acts.

Shilpa also said that acting for a role that has been portrayed by another actress before is no small pressure. According to Shilpa, no matter what amount of hard work is put, plagiarism always has a smell of plagiarism about it.

However, the comments did not go well with some people in the audience. Audience members, particularly those who supported the TV show Bhabhi Ji Ghar Pare, thought that the comments discredited Shubhangi Atre, as she played Angoori Bhabhi in the TV show for almost ten years and gained immense popularity because of her performance. This reaction did not take long to spread to actors within the TV industry.

Actor Sourabh Raj Jain had a strong reaction on social media platforms without pointing towards Shilpa. He said that if the actor who has replaced them and entertained the audience for ten years and won their hearts, then the original actor who left the role a long time ago cannot comment on the new actor's position and comedy talent. He ended by saying that humility is the most important thing.

The matter has once again brought to light the sensitivities involved in casting changes in series television.
