Shilpa Shetty Celebrates 32 Years of Baazigar with Nostalgic Montage

The actress celebrates three decades of the iconic thriller with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, sharing behind-the-scenes memories and gratitude

Time flies, but classics remain timeless. Shilpa Shetty Kundra marked 32 years of Baazigar—the 1993 thriller starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and herself—by sharing an emotional montage of film clips and memories on social media. “#32YearsofBaazigar & what a ride it’s been!” she wrote, celebrating the milestone with her fans.

Directed by Abbas-Mustan, Baazigar was loosely inspired by the 1991 film A Kiss Before Dying, itself based on Ira Levin’s 1953 novel. The film struck a chord with audiences, grossing around Rs 150 million worldwide and emerging as the fourth-highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.

Recalling her most iconic scene from the movie, now viral again on social media, Shilpa shared how demanding the shoot was. “Akbar Bhai was the action director for the film, and we shot that scene nearly five times. I had a scar on my hip for nearly 8–10 years because I was asked to wear a harness. We didn’t have VFX then, so I had to act authentically. The building was moving, and the makers still thought the shot could be done better,” she recalled, joking, “I’ve died nearly 15 times.”

Three decades later, Baazigar continues to be remembered as a cult classic — a film that not only cemented Shah Rukh Khan’s rise to superstardom but also launched Shilpa Shetty’s remarkable journey in Bollywood.
