Sardaar Gabbar Singh’s Link to Dhurandhar Title Track Reminds Pawan Kalyan’s Musical Taste
The renewed buzz also reopened conversations around Pawan Kalyan’s taste in music.

There is an interesting and unexpected connection between the Telugu film Sardaar Gabbar Singh and the Bollywood blockbuster Dhurandhar. The link lies in music. Dhurandhar’s popular title song is actually a remix of an old Hindi track—and what surprised many is that the very same original song had already featured nearly a decade ago in Sardaar Gabbar Singh.
Fans may recall that just before the climax, Sardaar Gabbar Singh includes a quirky song medley sequence where Pawan Kalyan dances with a group of rowdies to a mix of retro songs from different languages. One of those Hindi numbers later became the base for the Dhurandhar title track remix.
After Dhurandhar was released in Hindi, the remixed song went viral once again. This prompted Telugu audiences to reshare clips of the original version from Sardaar Gabbar Singh on social media, bringing the film back into public discussion. Thanks to this musical connection, a film once remembered as a box-office failure unexpectedly began trending again online.
The renewed buzz also reopened conversations around Pawan Kalyan’s taste in music. Right from the early stages of his career, the actor has shown a fondness for retro tracks, remixes, and creatively placing Hindi songs in his films. Members of the Sardaar Gabbar Singh team had earlier revealed that the idea of the song medley came directly from Pawan Kalyan himself.
Ironically, while Sardaar Gabbar Singh is being celebrated now for this musical recall value, the film failed to live up to expectations at the time of its release. Despite strong opening-day numbers, the clichéd cop story failed to strike a chord even with die-hard fans and fizzled out quickly at the box office.
This was in stark contrast to his earlier cop drama Gabbar Singh, which turned out to be a sensational blockbuster and marked Pawan Kalyan’s grand comeback to Tollywood a decade ago.
