PONDI pickings

Actress Radhika Chetan visited Pondicherry, and came back satiated with her experience.

1 Pondicherry is a great option for a solo trip for a girl and safe as well. I have some wonderful memories of the place where I felt like a college student again.

2 I stayed close to the Promenade beach, where I cycled, witnessed the sunrise and strolled around the quaint French Colony.

3 If I were to pick the highlight of my trip, it would definitely be the day, I hired a bike and went to Auroville, a universal town nearby, where men and women from across the globe live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, politics and nationalities. They conduct workshops at Svaram, where they have different musical instruments made up of wood, stone and other material. Auroville also has a Matri Mandir, which is a meditation centre, where one attains peace.

4 I tried the French and German cuisine and also visited Zuka Cafe, which is famous for its chocolate — I loved their chocolate pakodas and Irish coffee. I also bought chocolates from here. Cafe Des Arts and NE Cafe were a few more places that one should visit here.

5 I shopped for a few souvenirs like books made with handmade paper, fashion jewellery, magnets and apparel from Casablanca. I also brought a bag from the Hidesign factory outlet.

6 It is great place to chill and walk around the French Quarter, and click great pictures with beautiful backdrops.
