Her craze for movies and aspiration to become an actor saw her contact Crazy Star of Sandalwood — V. Ravichandran. She was a PU student when she bagged the role in Apoorva, an ambitious and bold experimental movie by the legendary actor and director Ravichandran himself. Despite receiving mixed reviews after its release, the bold subject of an aged man falling in love with a teenager captured everyone’s attention. Actress Apoorva who essayed the role of Apoorva in the venture Apoorva returns to the silver screen after completing her graduation.
She is now hoping for a double Victory starring alongside Sharan in Victory 2, a sequel to the hit film Victory. Apoorva also has a film titled Modave meaning pimple, in the pipeline. She speaks to Bengaluru Chronicle about her crazy journey in search of ‘victory,’ and much more. Including welcoming the pimple!
“After making my debut with such a legendary filmmaker and actor Ravichandran Sir, it was a matter of great joy to share the screen with actor Sharan, who is one of the most talented and hard working artists in the industry today. He has acted in more than 110 movies in his career, rising from comedian to star hero. After Apoorva, I went back to Mysuru to complete my education, and I recently graduated in commerce from Mysuru University,” says Apoorva.
While she took a break for a year, she says that she kept on looking at scripts, and good opportunities kept knocking on her door. She decided on Victory 2, a sequel to the hit Victory. The team, she goes on to add, comprises of a great technical team from director Hari Santhu, Tharun Sudhir as the creative head. It is being produced by Tarun Shivappa.
The actress will also be seen as a lawyer in Ravichandran’s directorial Rajendra Ponnappa.
“I have always been fascinated with movies. Even earlier, I would never miss an opportunity to be a part of any cultural activity in school and college. When in college, I managed to get the email address of Ravi Sir through a friend. Some of my friends and I sent our photos to him. Sir replied, asking me to audition for his ambitious movie, I was on cloud nine. Since then he has been my mentor and godfather, and I constantly seek his blessings and advice,” Approval shares.
Her debut movie Apoorva was an experimental project. She says that her entire family is a huge fan of Ravi Sir. “I had no clue what was happening, as it was hard for me to believe that I was acting in Ravi Sir’s movie. He instilled faith in me, and I could finally pull it off. He expresses great joy when I share about the kind of opportunities I am getting in the film industry. There are not many Kannada actresses left, and I am working hard on my acting, dance, and other areas to do my best as an actress,” says Apoorva.
She has bagged Modave as well which marks the debut of Aditya Shashi Kumar, the son of popular Kannada actor and politician Shashikumar, and essays the role of a village girl in this tale of love.
The actress who hails from Chikmagalur has now moved to Bengaluru from Mysuru. She thanks her family for their great support in her journey. “My younger brother is so excited about his sister being in the industry, and he has literally become my manager. He is always around and takes care of me at work,” she signs off.
