LOL before the comedy storm
The Kannada small screen has been witnessing a rise in the number of stars arriving from Sandalwood. Seems like stars have literally ‘fallen’ in love with the idiot box, which is presently on par with the silver screen in terms of popularity. While every channel is launching new shows to grab the audience’s attention, and there is a fight for supremacy on air with new star attractions, the latest to join the bandwagon is the pretty action lady — Ragini Dwivedi. She is set to make her debut on TV with some LOL rides.
The actress who is busy with at least four projects including the upcoming, Terrorist directed by P C Shekhar, talks to Bengaluru Chronicle about her small screen entry and more.
“I am finally making an entry into TV and that too with a big laugh! I will be one among the three judges on Star Suvarna’s upcoming comedy-based reality non-fictional show Bharjari Comedy. While I bring in the glamour, senior actor Doddanna and the super talented director Guruprasad are also judging the show. It is completely different from the regular format shows with a whole new concept and feel. I have never worked for TV, and never been a judge on any show. I simply hope to enjoy laughing out loud and will do my best,” says Ragini Dwivedi.
However, the actress says that it’s not the first time she had gotten offers to work in TV. She adds, “I have been getting offers for the past few years, but none excited me enough. When the channel came up with this unique concept, I could not refuse. Especially as it is my mantra in life — keep smiling and stay happy. This is no competition and both senior artistes and newcomers will be seen showcasing their humorous side.”
The pretty Ragini is busy smiling on the big screen too. Her ongoing shoot for the feature film (yet to be titled) starring Sharan is also comedy. She has director Mussanje Mahesh’s film MMCH lined up along with Terrorist and a few more in her kitty. She reveals that her brother, Rudraksh Dwivedi will be styling her looks and costume for the comedy show. “We are trying something new. In films, the scope to work on different styles is limited but for TV, every episode is new, and there is an opportunity to try out a new look and design,” Ragini says while smiling even more as she is back to being slim and fit, after a lot of hard work, having shed 20 kg. “I am back to my desired shape. Though, once in a while I treat myself to some high calorie food like cup cakes and rum cakes baked by my sweet mother,” she adds.
