A familiar face, she is usually seen wearing a big smile on the huge billboards, television advertisements including print mediums. Model turned actress, Nithu Gowda, also practises dentistry when time permits after her on-screen acts. Her next film, titled Ranam, which is a bilingual, made both in Kannada and Telugu starring Chiranjeevi Sarja, Chetan, Varalakshmi, and Abhiram is all set to hit the screens in the coming months. Nithu has signed yet another project in another language, which she is tight-lipped about it. But sources say that it could be her debut in Tamil! Recently, the film Ranam was in news for the wrong reason involving a tragic incident which killed two persons who had come to see the shooting of the film on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The dentist speaks to Bengaluru Chronicle on what is keeping her busy while she awaits her next to hit the screens and more.
“Following my debut movie, it was my conscious decision to take a short break before I signed my next. In the meantime, I got very busy with multiple modelling assignments, both in television advertisements and print. This was another reason for the gap. However, when director V Samudra offered me Ranam, I simply could not refuse. I play the role of a college going girl, which is a tailor made one for me. It was fun to play a student on screen as well. I am done with my portion of the shoot, and I cannot wait for its release now,” says Nithu.
In an added bonus, it is going to her first bilingual project, made both Kannada and Telugu. That’s not all, in a rarity, the actress is dubbing her own voice for her role in both the languages.
“It is quite special that I am getting to dub for the roles in both languages. Apart from Kannada, which is my mother tongue, I am well-versed in Telugu too, and I will be dubbing in Telugu in the coming days. For any actor, it gives a greater satisfaction to hear his or her own voice to the roles, for which one would have worked hard in front of the camera,” she adds.
Following the tragic incident during the shooting of Ranam, which killed two persons who had come to see the shooting, she says that it was very unfortunate. “I was not there at the shooting place when the incident occurred. I came to know that the incident happened when an action sequence was been shot.”
In fact, Nithu, who has taken up several new modelling assignments reveals that she has signed her next in another language and would soon announce it in the coming days. “I don’t see any major difference between shooting for advertisement and movies. The only difference is that everything gets wrapped up in a day or two. Many are unaware that even in modelling, the makers come with offers with a well made script and description of roles for which we are being offered. I have even rejected a couple in the past including the one wherein I was offered to work for a popular soap brand in bikini. As I was not comfortable, I rejected it,” she explains.
If not modelling and acting in movies, Nithu, heads to her friend’s dental clinic and practises dentistry whenever time permits her to do so. “I make it a point to keep myself updated in the field along with practising it whenever I get time from acting, “ she adds....
