Ragini Dwivedi roars into shape
As Ranachandi, she roared onto the screen last year enthralling fans. This actress has managed to create an exclusive market in the film industry for herself with her female-oriented lead roles in what is a male actor-driven market. After just a release, she suddenly vanished into ‘thin’ air, for almost five months, only to shock everyone with her new slimmer look. Ragini Dwivedi, who turns a year older today, speaks with Bengaluru Chronicle about her huge transformation even as she is gearing for new projects, including one that is being launched on her birthday. The actress says she is not ashamed to talk about her weight loss plan which included a diet and workouts to get back to shape.
“I had just one film which released in 2016 which was ‘Ranachandi’, but this year I have three films lined up fo release - ‘Nane Next CM’, which is tentatively scheduled to release on June 23 and then ‘Gandhigiri’ alongside actor-director Prem which also features veteran Arundathi Nag madam in a special role and later it will be ‘Kicchu’, in which I will be seen in a completely new avatar. It is going to be an action-packed year for me and for my lovely fans,” says Ragini Dwivedi.
The actress who has signed one more movie which is being directed by Mussanje Mahesh will be launched on her birthday at Kanteerava Film Studio alongside her birthday celebration organised by most of her fans associations across the state. In fact, she is one of few actresses in the entire country who has a registered fans association which also indulges in various social activities. The untitled project being launched on her birthday features Aditya Singh.
While the actress says that she will soon reveal more film projects including other language ones, she is excited about her upcoming releases. “I have decided to do just one action oriented movie in a year as it involves a lot of risks. I have suffered a lot of injuries while shooting for action films and then underwent treatment to get the injuries cured which unfortunately made me put a lot of weight in a short time. So, now I have decided to go slow and do just one action film in a year and rather do more films of the combination of various genres,” she says.
About her new slimmer look, Ragini shares that she was determined to weight and that it was not a hereditary or any other such issues which made her put on weight and hence she opted for treatment. “I have no shame in saying that I took treatment for weight issues including nature’s cure near Dharmasthala and then followed strict crash diet course and planned fitness regime. When I initially started losing weight, it was not that visible but when I started coming back to shape, the results were more visible. It was when I suddenly stayed away for four to five months. Later, when I re-appeared everyone was pleasantly shocked and I do keep getting questions on how I lost weight. It was my determination plus a bit of medical help and fitness courses which helped me get back to the real me.”
As she continues to keep her fans enthralled playing her typical films, she is also considering to do a few films which are hero-centric too. “With a solo market of my own, I am blessed to in such good condition. I am the hero and heroine of usual Ragini films, and I even want to do regular films with good characters with big hero and directors in the coming days,” she adds. Before the birthday girl head back to prepare for the launch of the new film, Ragini signs off revealing that her fans association has lined up several social activities and this time they are focussing on women’s issue. We wish the action girl a many more happy returns of the day!
