Filmi fundas thanks to telly

Many actors have gone onto meaty roles in films thanks to their popularity in serials.

With the Kannada television industry growing big, on par with the film industry, both actors and technicians are taking an inspired leap forward towards the silver screen. While many are sailing smoothly in both waters, opportunities have come knocking on their doors thanks to their popularity on TV. Unlike in the past when only a handful of small screen actors could make it to the big screens, the demand for talent has risen, prompting filmmakers to cast them in prominent roles. Recently, popular actress Amrutha Ramamoorthy of the Kulavadhu fame bagged a golden opportunity, and Thandav Ram of Jodi Hakki is expecting the release of his upcoming venture Ond Kathe Hella and Karthik Attavar of the Yashode fame will see the release of his movie in the coming weeks. Bengaluru Chronicle reports.

Actress Amrutha Ramamoorthy of the Kulavadhu fame had a golden opportunity to act alongside Golden Star Ganesh in Preetham Gubbi’s next 99, which is a remake of the Tamil hit film 96, and she says, “The makers approached me for a prominent role in the movie. I essay the role of a photography student and it has Ganesh Sir in it. I was apprehensive about being good enough to work with a star actor, but surprisingly he made it very comfortable for me. Also, working for Preetham Gubbi, the director was another plus point. It was a perfect and pleasant atmosphere, and I witnessed no tantrums or qualms of any sort with the team on the sets,” she says.

Having seen Ganesha Sir on the small screen and in movies, Amrutha shares that it was such a momentous occasion for her. “I did not give any audition for this film. I was told that they needed someone who can perform. They had seen me in Kulavadhu, following which they zeroed in on the project. The first day of the shoot was a nervous one. I had to drive Ganesh Sir through the Ghat sections. His calming words eased my anxiety. I am hoping for more opportunities to work in movies after this one,” Amrutha says.

Insofar as Kulavadhu is concerned, she adds that the serial is taking a leap with a change in the plot in the coming days.

Thandav Ram, the star actor from the Jodi Hakki serial, is excited about his big screen venture Ond Kathe Hella directed by Girish, as it is ready for release.
“It is going to be an experimental film with five different chapters on a similar subject told differently through the eyes of five boys. I play the lead. I had listened to over 20 scripts but none impressed me. When Girish, who has so far directed short films, told me the tale, I was very impressed. A good script with a hard-working team has made this project possible. I hope it will be liked by the audience too,” he says.

The trailer of the movie was scheduled for release this week but due to the sad demise of Sri Shivakumara Swamiji, who had released the motion poster of the film a few months ago, it was postponed to another date.

A suspense thriller titled Anukta, written by Karthik Attavar of the Yashode fame, who also plays the lead role in it. Attavar shares that he had penned the story about the unique ‘daivaraadhane’ from Tulunaadu. The movie is scheduled to hit the screens on February 1.
