Kaddu Mucchi' ado about Vijay!

Everyone knows him by his most popular role on tv, that of Siddharth. Now the heart throb is looking forward to his film Kaddu Mucchi.

For over five years at a stretch, he has literally ruled the Kannada television industry as Siddharth, the heart-throb from the hit television drama — Agnisakshi on Colors Kannada. Vijay Suriya who started his journey as an actor with Crazy Loka and then took up his most successful venture on television, is on to newer pastures. After Ishtakamya directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar, he returns to steal the limelight with his upcoming release Kaddu Mucchi, which he believes will be his proper debut in Kannada films, and is packed with all the commercial masala of a meaningful venture. A model, actor and a TV host, Vijay shares his exciting journey with Bengaluru Chronicle.

“There has been a long gap between my previous Kannada movie Ishtakamya which was directed by Nagathihalli Sir. Since then, the audience who has been showering unconditional love and support were expecting something on the lines of the character Siddharth from Agnisakshi. Fortunately, I stumbled upon an apt venture Kaddu Mucchi, which I think is tailormade for me it is an extension of what the audience loves me for. It will not be a completely serious role, though it is going to be a proper commercial film. It is set to release in January,” says Vijay Suriya.

He also has another venture lined up that is keeping him busy, Lucknow to Bangalore wherein he plays a unique role of a Muslim. “Unlike the title, it is not a travelogue. An intense tale, the movie’s subject is something that has never been told to Kannada audiences. It is going to be the biggest surprise,” he explains.

As far as his TV venture, Agnisakshi, which he has been a part of for five years and is still going strong, goes, the actor feels the serial was a major learning experience. “It has taught me how to handle success and fame, and also given me the much-needed patience as being a part of a show for five years takes a toll and involves sacrifice. Most of all, the entire team has maintained a high morale, which is why it is still rated as the number one show.”

After his plus-two education, he chose a path which he always wanted to tread. “My parents have been very supportive and were infact, the guiding stars when it came to my acting career. My father is a big fan of Hollywood movies and my mother is hooked to Kannada films. They advised me to take up acting lessons, and made me join acting class in Mumbai run by noted filmmaker Subhash Ghai at Whistling Woods International Film Media and Art Institute. When Crazy Loka has an average running, it was again my parents who encouraged me to take up TV ventures,” he adds.

Always in the limelight, Vijay ensures that he is well-protected when he goes out in public, especially due to his mad and burgeoning female fan following. “I cannot repay all the unconditional love my fans, especially the female audience have been showering upon me, but at times, one has to be sensitive and protect oneself as well, as you never know how a female fan might react. Hence, I make sure I am secure,” he smiles.
