Kiccha perfect heroism!

An exclusive interview with Sandalwood star Sudeep, who is gung ho about his latest flick and his new look!

The heart throb of millions of fans — from Japan, Singapore and several other countries across the globe, he is certainly Karnataka’s pride — Abhinaya Chakravarthy, fondly called Kiccha Sudeep is a true mark of versatility.

The actor, director, producer and singer straddles so many roles with equal passion, apart from being a great father, son and a good human being. Kiccha, who is roaring loudly, and with aplomb as Hebbuli, speaks to Bengaluru Chronicle, sharing all about his most-awaited movie which is undoubtedly the most-talked about release this year. He also takes a more practical and prudent stance with respect to the inhumane incident involving the Malayalam actress.

“It’s been a journey of faith, excitement, hard work, belief and overall, a journey of togetherness amongst the many people involved with the film. There is an element of content that is serious and full of substance, which is the focal point in Hebbuli. The director has scripted it beautifully which makes it even more exciting,” says Sudeep.

He makes it clear that the film is not about a soldier or a para-military commando, nor does it have anything to with war. Kiccha says the movie focuses on larger issues which have remained untouched so far.

“The film deals with the sacrifice of our soldiers while we feel safe inside the country’s borders, and how their families and loved ones are protected as they serve the nation. And, how do we make such families feel safe — that is the real essence, beyond the hair cut, etc. It will certainly raise eyebrows,” Kiccha adds.

The multifaceted film maker shares that the level of preparedness for this project has been very high with every technician, actor and the young producers — Raghunath and Umapathy have given it their best.

“What is most exciting is that the excitement starting from even a layman, has been amazing. I had been a part of several projects in the past that had great expectations riding on them but this one is sort of self triggered. We certainly cannot bribe everyone to make sure the film retains the hype. Since the beginning, the excitement amongst fans and cinema lovers has not dipped for a moment. We had more responsibility to try and reach that level of expectation,” Kiccha reveals.

An Understatement
His collaboration with Crazy Star V Ravichandran continues with Hebbuli where the hugely popular and versatile Ravichandran plays a vital role. “Yes, Ravi Sir is my elder brother in Hebbuli but calling him that is an understatement. His role is an important part of the film. The entire movie revolves around the emotional connectivity which radiates through his role. He is at the heart of it. Moreover, the best part is that he has moved forward, and it’s a great sign of a great actor who is still the most sought-after. None of us can escape that phase in life. He is and will be always a great star and will always be around as our Crazy Star,” says Kiccha.

Grounded and Receptive
Actress Amala Paul makes her debut in Kannada and Kiccha felt that she was very easy to work with, and so grounded. “I had not met her or seen her till I saw her on the sets. She is somebody who is very receptive to suggestions, knowledgeable and does not carry her fame and work experience as a tag. In fact, her easy going nature made our life very easy — (in jest) In the sense that when a lady isn’t happy with things, she can bring the house down (in jest). Also, apart from Amala and Kaveri Madam, there were no women on the sets which we realised later on,” he laughs.

The AWESOME director
Kiccha reveals that he had given his nod to the director without going through the normal procedure of committing to a project. “It was not because he is a technical magician but because he is an awesome person. I have worked with him in the past, and he is great guy. I honestly feel that every movie is the reflection of a director’s heart. And, he has actually given a great shape to the film.”
