Pailwaan of Sandalwood
The Abhinaya Chakravarthy of Sandalwood, who has made an incredible mark for himself across India and abroad with his work, and his burgeoning fan following which extends to countries like Japan, is gearing up for an on-screen fight of a lifetime. This film will be dubbed in at least eight languages, with many having their theatre release as well. In Pailwaan, Kichcha Sudeepa, will be sporting a bare body, portraying the role of a kushti patu (wrestler/boxer), for which the actor has worked hard for months at the gym, and now sports a chiselled physique.
That’s not all, Pailwaan marks the Sandalwood debut of Bollywood star Suniel Shetty. Produced by Swapna Krishna under the home banner RRR Productions, the talented cinematographer-turned-director Krishna is leaving no stone unturned to make this Pailwaan beat every record set in the industry. Kichcha Sudeepa speaks to Bengaluru Chronicle about his most anticipated venture, and much more.
With an illustrious career spanning over two decades, the star actor was in the news for hitting the gym to perfect the character of a wrestler in Pailwaan. He says, “Frankly, when I first saw Kabir Duhan Singh (who plays an antagonist’s role) photo prior to the project, I was simply stunned and even got scared. He has worked so hard on his body that I seriously did not wanted to become a joke in front of others. He was the man I had to share the screen space in some crucial scenes. He is the main reason and the motivation due to which I finally turned to the gym.”
Sudeepa further reveals that ever since he started training, he has been following a simple but strict routine such as waking up at around 4 am, and then hitting the gym for two hours, and then back to shooting by 7 am, and a swim in the evening. This, along with certain diet plans and sleeping early at 9 pm. He goes on add that he would not sleep until 2 am, sometimes even 4 am in the past.
That apart, Kichcha shares that as an actor, one always tries to find diverse roles. “In the end, we are all entertainers. More importantly, it is the scripts that motivate an actor. Earlier, I used to avoid my trainer with some or the other reason,” he smiles.
Apart from the bare actions, the movie is being touted as one of the most expensive Kannada movies being made. Kichcha says that the expenditure is because of the requirement of the script. “Both Krishna, and his better-half Swapna are making it to realise their dreams. Moreover, the present business opportunities should also be taken into account, which is why the movie will be dubbed in multiple languages,” he adds.
About dubbing in multiple languages, he explains that kushti is a universal subject which appeals to all. “By people’s blessings and God’s grace, I am known in other markets too which is why we are reaching to other language audiences along with the help of a few friends from other industries. We are planning it accordingly,” he adds.
Last but not the least, on Suniel Shetty’s debut in Kannada, the Abhinaya Chakravarthy who is a big fan of Anna, as Suniel Shetty is called, says that he recommended the senior actor’s name to Krishna after he realised that Suniel always wanted to act in a Kannada film. “It was a great opportunity for us to share the screen, and the experience of working with him is amazing. Suniel Anna, who hails from our state is a dedicated artiste. He is ready with make-up at 7 am, and his role as Sarkar is brilliant. It will be a treat to watch him on the screen. A great motivation to work with,” he signs off, assuring us that he will be back with more exciting experiences of working for Pailwaan.
Apart from this film, Kichcha is busy with the trilingual venture Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, a Indian historical period drama, and Kotigobba 3 in Kannada. As far as his small screen ventures go, he is the face of the Kannada version of Bigg Boss which is currently on air.
