‘Seethe’ returns to the small screen

After successful performances on the big screen, actress Apeksha Purohit returns to Kannada television in Marala Bandalu Seethe. A chat with the lady.

She started her career as an actress on the small screen and made an impact with her performance in Triveni Sangama. Soon she took the silver screen route featuring in renowned filmmaker T N Seetharam’s Kafi Thota and followed it with another venture titled Kinaare. Actress Apeksha Purohit, who recently married Sandalwood director Pavan Wadeyar, is currently basking in the glory of her successful film Natasaarvabhowma starring Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar in the lead. She returns to Kannada television after a gap of two years in Marali Bandalu Seethe which is produced under the prestigious banner of Dr. Rajkumar under Vajreshwari Combines through Poornima Enterprises. She shares with Bengaluru Chronicle, her return to soaps, the love story and more.

“For any actor getting an opportunity to work in the Dr. Rajkumar family banner, is a dream come true and especially when Raghavendra Rajkumar sir is producing a television soap after a long gap. Following films, I always wanted to make a comeback to Kannada television but was waiting for an exciting opportunity. When I was approached for Marali Bandalu Seethe, I just grabbed it with both hands. Post my films — Kafi Thota and Kinaare, I headed to do a serial in Tamil. Now apart from my comeback serial, I am almost done with the shoot of another film titled Saguta Doora Doora, which deals with the emotional bond between a mother and her son,” says Apeksha Purohit.

It was during the promotions for the film Kafi Thota, she met Pavan. The actress reveals that Pavan Wadeyar saw her in a TV show while she was busy promoting her film. He then approached her for a role in his next film. “Everything happened in a jiffy. I had no idea that Pavan who saw me in a TV show later contacted me. Initially, it was like any other call about work but little I knew that Pavan had actually fallen in love with me and wanted to marry me from the beginning,” she smiles.

Soon they both developed a friendship and finally Pavan proposed to her and with the consent of their family members, they tied the knot in August.

“When it comes to his profession, he is very hard working and I have learnt a lot from him. We discuss films and we are planning on creating our home production, providing opportunities to the deserving talents. In fact, I am even interested in filmmaking and if everything works out, I wish to direct a film along with my better half,” she shares.

As Marali Bandalu Seethe is concerned, she plays the character of ‘original’ Seethe! “Yes, it was a surprising twist in the beginning. Till my introduction, there was another character who has entered claiming to be Seethe but in reality, I am the original Seethe. It is a well written soap which comes with interesting twists in the plot,” she adds.

She concludes by saying that with big banners producing serials, the quality in content and its making has gone up. “The small screen industry has grown by leaps and bounds. Even youngsters have started watching television
shows and hence the makers are constantly experimenting on giving the best contents,” she signs off.
