PLAYBACK power stars
When Century Star Shivarajkumar sang Mani Mani for Janumada Jodi, it became an instant hit, and is still considered one of the most popular songs in Kannada films. His brothers Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar are more trained singers. Puneeth who occasionally sings for films, does a noble deed by donating the remuneration he receives for his songs to the underprivileged. Picking up on the trend from Bollywood with star actors trying their hands at singing, Sandalwood too has been testing the star voice with almost all the leading star actors venturing into playback while even importing talents of from neighbouring industries like Dhanush, Junior NTR, and Kajal Aggarwal. POWERFUL VOICE
A perfect example for like father, like son, Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar, stands on top after his legendary father late Dr Rajkumar, in the leading actor-singer category. After singing his debut song Bana Dari Yalli, he later sang along with his father, as a childhood artiste. This versatile artiste’s other popular solo was for his debut venture Appu. Apart from singing for his own films, the multi-talented star has so far even sung for other star actors including his older brother Dr Shivarajkumar, Ganesh, Sharan and Neenasam Satish.
KICCHA SPECIAL
Actor, director, producer, cricketer, and singer, the truly versatile personality, Kiccha Sudeep has been a lucky charm for many films even as a playback singer. The actor who is on high demand for his voiceovers, made his singing debut much early in his career. Who can forget Sontada Visya, a popular song till date, for instance? He recently recorded a song for Mandya to Mumbai, singing Deola Deola. For Rhaate, he sang Jodi Hakki, adding it to his list of at least a dozen playback songs.
RADHIKA SINGS HEY DEEWANA WITH SRII MURALI
The actress who has been a lucky mascot for Kannada producers, has for the first time, tried her luck with singing. Making her playback debut for Zoom scored by S S Thaman, Radhika Pandit, has teamed up with another actor-turned-singer Srii Murali to sing Hey Deewana.. Apparently, Srii Murali, who made a huge comeback with Ugramm, followed with Rathaavara, had made his singing debut for Rathaavara singing Hudugi Kannu.
It’s a common feature for Real Star Upendra to sing for his ventures, while his fellow actors like Sharan and Rocking Star Yash, have followed suit.
