Drishyam sets sight on U-Turn for Sandalwood foray
Company has produced critically acclaimed films like Ankhon Dekhi, Masaan.

BENGALURU: In a first of its kind, Pawan Kumar’s third directorial venture U-Turn goes national after the Mumbai-based production company Drishyam Films announced that it would distribute the movie all across India, except Karnataka.
While Sandalwood is basking on the recent success of critically acclaimed movies such as Lucia, Rangitaranga, Kendasampige, Ulidavaru Kandanate and Kiragoorina Gayyaligalu, apart from several commercial successes, this new trend to spread its presence across the country has come as a major boost for the industry, which had been struggling with stiff competition from other language films, mainly Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
Having produced critically acclaimed films like Ankhon Dekhi, Masaan, and Umrika, Drishyam Films is now entering Kannada film distribution market. U-Turn is directed and produced by Pawan Kumar, who shot to fame with the much-acclaimed and commercially successful film Lucia. He popularised the concept of crowd funding through Lucia and U-Turn is his first film produced under his banner ‘Pawan Kumar Studios Pvt Ltd’ starring Shraddha Srinath, Radhika Chetan, Dilip Raj and Roger Narayanan. The film will be released in the rest of the country on the same day it will hit the screens in Karnataka.
“We were working on the distribution since the last film Lucia. We had collaborated on releasing the film across the country in all the major cities. Lucia had become the first Kannada film to achieve that feat. I am glad that with my third film, we are collaborating again,” said Pawan Kumar.
U-Turn is narrated by the female protagonist and revolves around the chaotic traffic situation in Bengaluru and how it interconnects with the soul of his movie.
