Ananthapur: Prashanth Neelakantapuram, familiar as Prasanth Neel, director of Pan India and the two KGF movies, was a special attraction at his native Neelakantapuram village in Madakasira mandal of Satya Sai district during the Independence Day celebrations on Monday.

Prasanth is a relative of former minister and former APCC chief Raghuveera Reddy. He became popular across the country after directing two black buster movies -- KGF-1 and KGF –2 – which ran in multiple languages.

The star director was chief guest for the Independence Day celebrations at the Government High School in Neelakantapuram village. He arrived with his family members, took part in the events and spent some time with children of the high school.

Hari Prasad, a teacher from the Neelakantapuram high school observed, "Prasanth's presence for the event was a great inspiration to the students."

Later, the director offered poojas at the Lord Neelakanteswara Swamy temple and in a group of temples consecrated recently by Raghuveera Reddy and his family members.

The director and his family were accompanied by Reddy and his wife Sunitha during the poojas and other events. Later, the director was present as chief guest for the inauguration of an eye hospital of the LV Prasad Eye Institute.

Prasanth’s parents, Subhash and Bharathi, were from Neelakantapuram village but settled in Bengaluru.

The two-parts of KGF – an abbreviation for Kolar Gold Fields -- were a hit not only across the country but also abroad. Meanwhile, NTR Arts has announced a film in collaboration with Neel, along with Jr NTR. The film’s production is likely to begin in April next.
