One more women-centric daily soap hits Kannada TV. This time, it is all about the tried and tested classic tale between a husband and an innocent wife in an urban set-up. Tagged with an affair, it’s a saga of a cheating husband who is unhappy with his wife hailing from a typical village. The director, who is the wife of successful film director Krishna of the Hebbuli fame, Swapna Krishna, has webbed the story to suit both rural and urban audiences.

The first two episodes detail the characteristics of an innocent wife and her blind belief about her husband, making it an interesting watch. Deepa Bhaskar is a perfect village wife and her jovial nature marks the highlight of Subbalakshmi Samsara.

It is indeed a tale that needed to be told — values of life in an urban mindset that has deteriorated vastly. With a good message, the director has captured the essence in a pleasant manner, and it seems like her husband, who is also the creative head has left no stone unturned to make it look rich on the small screen.
Apart from the real intent, humour sets the right tone in this family saga. Nihal of the Drama Juniors fame makes his debut here. The makers reveal that Subbalakshmi Samsara, is the story of an unfaithful husband who embarks on an extramarital affair with his pretty secretary. Gurumurthy played by Bhavani Singh works for a top company in Bengaluru, married to Subbalakshmi, who along with their young son Atharva stay in a posh gated community.

Having moved to the city after marriage, Subbalakshmi still hasn’t given up her traditional roots. Gurumurthy, a man who is on an ambitious career path seems eager to showcase himself as a city slicker, and is embarrassed by his wife’s traditional behaviour. He, in turn, is attracted to Shanaya, a secretary who works at his office, with whom he starts a relationship.

The naïve Subbalakshmi, who thinks her husband is the epitome of Lord Shriram believes implicitly in her husband. The story revolves around how an innocent and unsuspecting Subbalakshmi strives to save her beloved husband and family amidst such hurdles. With apt making, and Deepa at her best as the innocent wife and Nihal adding humour, this one is set to run for over a year.
