Of late, many movies, including those of big stars, were available on various OTT platforms just within 7-10 of release at theatres. Then why is Kantara getting delayed?

On September 30, Kantara was released in Kannada and it gained popularity in a very less time. Soon it was dubbed into Telugu and Hindu and then into Tamil and Malayalam too, registering good box office collections right from Day 1 in those languages.

On October 15, Kantara was released in Telugu. It is nearing one month of release but theatres are reporting good occupancy even today. Similar is the case with Kantara Hindi version.

None of the films released in the last three weeks, either in Telugu or Hindi, could withstand in the theatres, leaving Kantara as the only option for the movie-goers. There are reports that the climax and Rishab Shetty’s action are attracting viewers to the theatres for a second time, which is a remarkable achievement. Of late, people have never been to theatres to watch a movie for a second time.

With regard to the collections, Kantara crossed Rs 350 crore collection. In Telugu, it reached Rs 50 crore and in Hindi, it surpassed the Rs 70-crore mark.

Kantara recorded a single-day collection of Rs 4.50 crore on the 24th day of release in Hindi.

In America, Kantara collected $2million and also registered record collections in Australia and New Zealand.

In Karnataka alone, more than 1 crore Kantara movie tickets were sold. In Bengaluru, Kantara was featured in 17,700 shows, breaking the KGF-2 record of 16,800 shows.

According to information, Hombale Films is not planning to release Kantara on OTT in the near future. Given the overwhelming response from the public, the producers are contemplating on the OTT release.

Amazon Prime had already bought the OTT rights for the movie and as per schedule, it was supposed to be streamed on November 4. Then there was talk of the date being postponed to November 18.

Amazon can stream the movie on its screen as per the schedule but it is learnt that they are waiting to allow the film do more business at the theatres, which will automatically add to the popularity.

There is talk that Amazon is likely to wait till the world-wide collection of the movie crosses Rs 400 crore. That apart, Hombale is working on many other crazy projects and Amazon is trying to work in coordination with the production house for its own benefit.
