Amaravathi best film, Achyuth Kumar best actor: Selection committee
Bengaluru: Amaravathi is the best Kannada movie, while Achyuth Kumar the best actor in the same movie, announced the selection committee, headed by filmmaker Kavitha Lankesh, for 2016.
After releasing the committee report, Ms Lankesh on Tuesday said that the competition was tough as the jury had to watch more than 125 movies that had come for competition.
Railway Children was adjudged the second best film, while Antharjala finished third. Special social concern movie award has gone to Mudla Seemeyalli, while Kirik Party, which ran to packed houses, is the best popular entertainment movie. The best children movie award has gone to Jeer Jimbe, while best movie of debut director went to Rama Rama Re and best regional movie was Mudipu in Tulu.
Shruthi Hariharan bagged the best actress award for her role in Beutiful Manasugalu, while Naveen D. Padeel adjudged the best actor in a supporting role for Kudla Cafe.
The award for best actress in a supporting role went to Akshatha Pandavapura, while Nanditha Yadav has bagged the award for best story. The award for the best film script story went to Aravind Shashtri for Kahi, while the best dialogue award has gone to B.M. Giriraj for Amaravathi.
The other award winners include Shekhar Chandra for best cinematography for Mungaru Male-2, M.R. Charan Raj for best music direction, C. Ravichandran for best editing, Master Manohar for best child actor, Siri Vanalli and Revathi as best child actresses, Shashidhar Adapa for best art direction, Karthi Saragur for best lyrics, Vijay Prakash for best background singer (male) and Sangeetha Ravindranath for best background singer (female). The jurees’ special price has gone to Chinmay.
