Hariprriya, who rules the roost as Kannada films’ top actress, is the quintessential beauty with brains.

She started her journey as an actress at the age of 16. Now, after a decade of hard work and dedication, she has scaled the heights of success. Hariprriya, Sandalwood’s current top actress is riding high over back-to-back blockbuster hits in recent times. The actress, who was on a month-long vacation to Bali and other interesting places in India, is back to work in a brand-new venture (yet-to-be titled), which she has signed a few days ago. Before heading to her vacation, she had wrapped up the shoot of Ellidde Illitanaka and Kannad Gottilla, which are due for release in the month of October.

“I am very excited to get back to work after a month-long vacation with my friends and family. In fact, it makes me feel nostalgic just like a school-going child, who returns to school after summer vacations! I am glad that I am in my happy phase of life with a great line-up of work for more than a decade, ever since I started acting. After finishing my previous two projects, I have taken up a romantic comedy, which is being directed by Vijay Kiran and produced by Jayanna-Bhogendra of the popular Jayanna Combines,” says Hariprriya. Her previous release Bell Bottom, starring alongside Rishab Shetty, was a runaway hit at the box-office. Her latest commercial entertainer, which will be the remake of Tamil hit film Kappal, will star Gurunandan of First Rank Raju as hero. “I feel honoured to work with such visionary filmmakers such as Joyanna-Bhogendra. It was they who distributed Bell Bottom, and had produced Bullet Basya, another film of mine in the past. They are very professional and comfortable to work with. Everything is so well organised, which is what every actor looks forward too at the work place. I have already completed four days of the shoot. Since it is going to be a remake, I didn’t need prepare too much. It’s the perfect project to hit after coming back from vacation,” she chuckles.

On balancing her act between pure commercial films and de-glam roles which are high on performance, she adds that she is fortunate to not have been tagged to a particular genre. She likes to give equal importance to all kinds of roles and films. Her act in Sooji Dhara was very much appreciated, despite the film failing to make a mark in terms of commercial returns. She was even seen in the role of Maya for a special number in the multi-starrer mega mythological project Kurukshetra.

Apart from work, she has contributed to several social causes. Cauvery Calling, a campaign by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev of Isha Foundation, to initiate the revitalisation of Cauvery river and transform the lives of 84 million people, is the latest one she has associated with by donating around 600 saplings. “I am not much of a follower of any Swamijis or gurus, but when I was introduced to Sadhguruji, I found him to be practical. In fact, he was very happy to learn that I hail from his hometown of Chikkaballapur. I even asked him for a solution for my restlessness to utilise the rest period (vacations) during breaks from work. He had an interesting answer to it, for which we have to wait till the interaction is made public by the foundation,” Hariprriya hints with a mysterious smile.

She maintains the same aura of mystery over another couple of interesting projects, which she says she’ll be signing in a week’s time, and will talk about once they are officially announced.
