Challenging chuckle

Challenging Star Darshan talks about why he's thrilled to be a part of a film that's more laughs than punch dialogues.

One of the most popular star actors in Sandalwood, known as the Sultan of Box Office, has had his shares of ups and downs for the past few years, despite which he has retained his stardom. Apart from struggling through his personal relationship, he has been through a rough patch with Mr. Airavata and Viraat which failed to create magic on the big screen.

Determined to make it work and taking it upon himself as a challenge, Darshan is back to full-fledged comedy after Dattha, alongside Sandalwood Queen Ramya. As the audio of his upcoming venture Jaggu Dada was released, Darshan and his team share their experience on how they are working to see Darshan’s fans laugh their hearts out!

“After a series of films which tried to boost my popularity with dialogues, I am finally happy to work in a film which will work on making more smiles. I am doing a full-fledged comedy role for the first time after Dattha. This might not have a lot of punch dialogues, but other popular aspects like tapanguchi songs and fight sequences are there in the film to entertain the audiences. From the opening scene up until the climax, Jaggu Dada is a complete entertainment package. In fact, I also play a supporting role parallel to the comedy one portrayed by Srujan Lokesh,” says Darshan.

Darshan says that he is more determined than ever to complete all the films he has committed to. He further assures his fans that he will wrap up his yet-to-be launched mega venture Chakravarthy, and hopes that the producer will make all efforts to release it in 2016 too. “Chakravarthy is slated to be launched on May 23 and I didn’t make any special preparations for it as my mother has not been keeping well these days. I have not signed any new projects either,” he adds.

The actor says that the on-spot editing helped them finish work on time and with good quality. “I insist assistant directors to do on-spot editing as it helps the artiste to perform and cut down on patch up work later, prolonging the time to release. I was impressed with director Raghavendra Hegde, who was particular about his choice. He even got good dancers from Mumbai to match my height,” he says.
