In the name of the mother!

Debutant actor Abhishek Gowda is currently played a dutiful son accompanying his mom, Sumalatha, during her election campaing.

The young rebel star who is making his debut with Amar, has donned a different role ever since his mother Mrs Sumalatha Ambareesh decided to contest elections from Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency, which was once represented by her husband Ambareesh, a star actor and politician. Known for his kind personality and daring attitude, rebel star Ambareesh was like an open book to his dear ones and millions of admirers across the globe. He shared a special bond with the people of his birthplace in Mandya. Abhishek Gowda, who is presently busy campaigning for his mother, speaks exclusively to Bengaluru Chronicle talking about his duty as a son. He feels that he is one of the biggest beneficiary of all the love and support showered upon to his family by the people of the entire state, specially Mandya.

Speaking to him for a moment, one will soon realise the familiarities of him with his father — his daring attitude and the brilliant wittiness. While he has gained his mother’s intelligence and patience, Abhishek Gowda says that nothing in life comes easy and there can never be an exception to anyone in any case.

“Right now our main focus is the elections and once that concludes, I will get back to my debut movie which is ready for release. I am glad that the Kannada audience, have liked the trailer of Amar directed by Nagshekar. But, as the son of a Rebel Star, my duty is to support my mother and work towards her success. In fact, I am confident that we will emerge victorious, as it was none other than the people who urged her to come into politics,” says Abhishek.

It has been a tough phase for Abhishek following the sad demise of his father in November, and then his mother who is now fighting the election as an independent candidate. He goes on to share on what led to his mother deciding to contest election.

“Many kept coming to us in huge numbers after my father passed away. They insisted that my mother should contest in the elections. Later, my mother decided to tour the district. She was welcomed with open heart and huge receptions everywhere she went, it is when she decided to contest and to continue the good works of my father which he always did irrespective of whether he was in power or not,” he adds.

The political battlefield in Mandya has gained huge importance with none other than chief minister H D Kumaraswamy’s son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, an actor, contesting election as the prime opponent. With star actors such as Challenging Darshan and Rocking Star Yash, who are campaigning for Sumalatha Ambareesh, the opponents have been constantly targeting them by involving in mudslinging campaigns, to which Abhishek reacts, “Firstly they (Darshan and Yash) are not campaigning only on the basis as star actors. They are family. They have been very close to our family and they are here just like me, performing duties as a son. And, secondly, if the opponents feel that such actors campaigning in the election would not make any difference or has any relevance, to which I fail to understand on why they are making personal attacks on them. This means to show their level of desperations and to involve in every possible tactics to win an election.”

“I too have reacted to couple of remarks made by the opponents during the campaign but henceforth I have decided not to stoop to their level. I am concentrating on visiting as many villages as possible. While we are facing all kinds of hindrances, the opponent is getting all the support from state machineries, but we are confident that it is ultimately the people who will decide and no hindrances can alter that in the end,” he wraps up as he continues with his journey seeking votes in support of his mother.
