Mayuraa gets chatty

After a roller-coaster ride of changing professions this bloke is now hosting a show on YouTube called Gold Class with Mayuraa.

You’ve heard him as an RJ, seen him as a talk show host and also watched him venture into cinema as a filmmaker. And now, the man with the gift of the gab, Mayuraa Raghavendra, is reviving his role of a chat show host with Gold Class with Mayuraa, a refreshing show featuring people from the south Indian film industry. The show, whose first episode airs in mid-July, will be available to watch on his YouTube channel Team Mayuraa. The man of many talents has managed to have intriguing one-on-one conversations with filmmaker Pawan Kumar and actress Shraddha Srinath so far. “We will feature celebrities and technicians from across the southern Industries - Sandalwood (Kannada), TollyWood(Telugu), Kollywood(Tamil) and Mollywood (Malayalam). Pawan’s episode had elements about the craft of film making and also the comparison between OTT platforms and movies as he’s done two episodes of the Leila series on Netflix. I can assure you that if you’re an aspiring or upcoming filmmaker, it will be an absolutely enlightening experience for you,” he states.

The other episode that he’s shot for features the spunky Shraddha Srinath, who’s now making her Tamil film debut with Ajith. “This episode had a mix of fun, straight, aggressive and bold discussions about the industry, the #MeToo movement and performance-oriented movies,” reveals the versatile lad, who’s kicked about his upcoming guests Karthik Subbaraj and Tamil superstar Vijay Sethupathi.

As for his filmi journey, Mayuraa kicked it off with the short film Rishabhapriya and is now directing his first feature film Kannad Gothilla featuring Harripriya. “My film revolves around what happens when migrants come to Bengaluru and abuse our state language. KG is almost on the closing stage of post-production. So far, the film has come out well and I’m just waiting for censor to get cleared so that we can plan our release,” reveals the director, who is all praise for his film’s lead actress Haripriya. “She’s an amazing artiste and it absolutely wonderful directing her. More than anything, she’s a proud Kannadathi, so it was easy for me to direct her,” he says of his leading lady who’s taking Sandalwood by storm with her prominent, path-breaking roles.

Amongst his various roles, which one is most closest to his heart? “Three are four valves in the heart - so apart from RJ-ing, filmmaking and being a talk show host, my other valve is acting as I’ve acted in films too!” smiles Mayuraa.
