At times expectations and tremendous hype end up in huge disappointments. In a reverse scenario for comedian-turned-hero Komal Kumar, who almost decided to take a break from Sandalwood and try his luck in neighbouring film industries, has clinched a great deal at the box office.
His latest release Deal Raja, has surprised everyone by running successfully in the first week itself. This is another pleasant surprise for Komal after Kathe Chitrakathe Nirdeshana Puttanna became a hit in January.
Despite the other big release Santheyalli Ninta Kabira, it has managed to draw audience to theatres with good mouth-to-mouth publicity, ending up with 40 to 50 more theatres for the second week across the state after it was initially released with a limited 90 screens.
Komal says that prior to the the release, two of the songs became popular and helped to reach the audience to some extent. “We expected the film to have a slow start at the box office as there was no hype behind it. But the response has surprised all of us,” he adds.
The deal gets better as there are no big film releases till August 12, and the film is expected to continue its good box office run. No surprises as more producers will be eager to ‘deal’ with Komal after this surprise hit!
