Sandalwood’s biggest Kurukshetra

This Kannada movie is all set for release on August 2 in five different languages across India.

In a first for Indian cinema, the mythological venture Munirathna Kurukshetra being made in 3D is set to hit over 1,000 screens worldwide from August 2. That’s not all, the Kannada movie with a multiple star cast will be released in at least five languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, making it the biggest film ever made in the history of Sandalwood using the latest technology and involving a huge budget. Bengaluru Chronicle reports…

“It is a one-of-a-kind movie ever attempted, not just in terms of the making, the huge star cast involved and the budget, but also with regards to the latest technology involved, making it the first mythological movie in 3D to be released. A moment of pride for Sandalwood,” says Yatish ‘Rockline’ Venkatesh, who is getting this magnum opus released in multiple languages. With regard to the release of the movie being moved to August 2 from the initially planned later release on the occasion of the Varamahalakshmi festival, he further adds that it was done to avoid clashing with the release of Saaho, which is also releasing in several languages and has raised huge expectations, as it is star actor Prabhas’ second movie after the Bahubali series.

Recently, the fans of ‘Challenging Star’ Darshan, who plays one of the lead roles as Duryodhana, had expressed displeasure against the makers for not using the photos of the actor in the passes for the audio release event of the movie which was scheduled on June 7. However, Darshan had to clarify saying, “The film features several stalwarts such as Appaji (Ambareesh), Ravichandran, Arjun Sarja, Srinivas Murthy, Nikhil Kumaraswamy and others. It is done to treat everyone on board with equal respect. Making a film of this magnitude is itself a huge challenge and I request all my fans to support the venture without making any fuss about it and enjoy the experience on the big screen.” The Kannada 3D version of the film, which also features actress Hariprriya, Meghana Raj and others, will hit the screens first, as the makers are finalising the dates for the release in other languages.
