Back to black cobra
The on-screen title of ‘super star’ needs no introduction as he is undoubtedly the one and only Rajinikanth, who hails from namma ooru and went onto rule not just Tamil but the entire Indian film industry.
This on-screen title is a well-known signature style introduction in all his films, and as a mark of respect to his larger than life image and humble attitude, no other actor in the Indian film industry has ever made an attempt to make use of those two magical words. However, the Maasthi Gudi film which features Duniya Vijay in the lead, who is also a great fan of Super Star Rajinikath, used something similar during the initial promotions as ‘Sandalwood Super Star’ Duniya Vijay, which faced a lot of criticism, especially from Rajinikanth’s fans.
Eventually, the director of Maasthi Gudi had to stick to ‘Black Cobra’ which is how Duniya Vijay is popularly known as amongst his fans. While making the change, the director revealed that because Vijay holds a lot of resemblance to Rajinikanth in appearance, they wanted to use ‘Sandalwood Super Star’. However, after some expressed dissatisfaction we stuck to the earlier title, he said.
