Jalsa time for the RX Suri girl

After making her debut with Duniya Vijay, this lass is all set for her next venture.

She worked as a cabin crew member before taking off on a powerful motorbike in her debut movie RX Suri alongside Duniya Vijay. The debut reached the desired destination and the pretty actress was flooded with offers, mostly for the typical girl-next-door roles.

Akankshaa is back this time with an entirely new team for Jalsa (which means enjoyment, masti or even fun!) It also marks the launch of another male debutant, Niranjan Wadeyarr and is directed by Kantha Kannalli.

The actress who is currently shooting for Pradesha Samachara alongside Suraj Gowda of Maduveya Mamateya Kareyole fame, shares with Deccan Chronicle the jalsa time she had and her dreams of playing a mature, revenge seeking ghost, and more!

“After my debut with an established star in the industry, naturally there were several offers but most of them were more or less similar roles – to look pretty and act lovely. That’s when I chose to take up a film being made by an entirely new team. Though the subject is nothing new, the presentation is very new and fresh. I play a TV reporter’s role. I chose this film to encourage new talent, and to show them that I believed in their work,” says Akanksha.

The actress was almost a part of the most talked about sequel film Mungaru Male 2. Its director Shashank had recently revealed that he was very impressed with Akankshaa’s natural talent and her fresh appearance, but the character in his sequel demanded something else and that’s why he had to choose another artiste. He even shared that, that’s why he recommended her for the film directed by by his assistant Kantha Kannali, making his debut in Jalsa.

Akankshaa will also be seen in Pradesha Samachara, a suspense-thriller. There are other movies in the bank that are yet to be finalised and titled. The actress who had gained weight for her debut venture is now back to fitness and confesses that she shed six kilograms.

“I was told to gain weight for RX Suri, to look more chubby and healthy on screen, and that was the best time of my life – I could eat all the tasty dishes to my heart’s content. Despite the audience’s response being aimed at my fitness quotient, I had to put on weight for the character. I have decided to reduce it now and have shed six kilos so far,” she sighs.

The actress who does not like to exercise much, shares that she had to do it the hard way – by following a strict diet comprising of high protein food along with a little help from green tea. She also reveals that she has another secret method, but one that she refuses to share! “I strictly follow GM diet and sometimes the military diet system. I feel so lazy at times and even that I may fail at, but my work motivates me to be fit. I even practice kick boxing, which also helps me maintain my fitness.”

In a rather strange dream role, Akankshaa reveals that she loves horror films and wants to star in one, but not one in which the ghosts are portrayed as sexy or stupid. “I would love to do a horror flick in which the spirit is mature and revenge seeking,” she laughs.

She says that she does not regret choosing acting as it gives her the opportunity to not stick to monotonous tasks and because it gives her immense satisfaction and joy.
