Open the bottle, powerfully!

Puneeth Rajkumar's song from his film has gotten over 1 million views...

Unlike in the West, songs and music has always been an integral part of Indian cinema. There are songs for every occasion and they play a major part in the success of a movie. Every mood and occasion comes with a song, be it weddings, partying, happiness, separation, dejection, rejection, revenge, love, and the lists goes on and on. One of most popular genres are party numbers, especially from the commercial sagas, tailormade for the audience to enjoy their party, shaking legs to favourite numbers featuring favourite movie stars. One such number under the direction of Pavan Wadeyar from Natasaarvabhowma starring Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar, has crossed 1 million views on social media, and is trending on top in less than two days after the song Open the bottle was released. Bengaluru Chronicle explores the rage of this party number.

“I never infuse a song in the script unless it doesn’t require it. A song must run along with the story. This song is actually a part of the story and when the audience watches the song in the movie, they will understand the significance. Puneeth Rajkumar has done it for the first time and it is going to be great for all his fans to watch him dance to this special party song Open The Bottle,” says Pavan Wadeyar.

The song has been penned by the versatile Yogaraj Bhat to the composition of D. Imman. The maker says that the song discourages the drinking habit with quirky lyrical touches by Yogaraj Bhat. “The fans will simply love Puneeth Sir’s move in this one,” he adds.

Sung by Vijay Prakash, the song which has gone viral, even left Power Star himself wanting to sing the number in his voice! The makers reveal that Puneeth Rajkumar has expressed his desire to sing it in his own voice too.

Puneeth Rajkumar, after releasing the song for his fans on new year’s eve, urged everyone to party responsibly. “It is a special song and I loved performing for it. I’m humbled by the immense love and support with more than a million views in less than two days,” he says.

There have been several songs on ‘drinking’ which have become hits in the recent past. Film critic Subramanya feels that songs add value to the script and emote the tone of important sequences too. “They are enjoyable only if they accompany the script. However, many filmmakers do it without any reason,” he says.
