Prominent personalities pay their last respects to Parvathamma Rajkumar
Bengaluru: Parvathamma Rajkumar, founder of the iconic production house, Sri Vajreshwari Combines and wife of the legendary Dr Rajkumar, succumbed to a cardiac arrest at around 4.40 am after a two-week stay in M.S. Ramaiah Hospital. She is survived by her three sons, Shivarajkumar, Raghavendra and Puneeth and two daughters - Lakshmi and Poornima.
H.D. Deve Gowda, former prime minister
She took good care of Dr Rajkumar who went on to scale the heights being the recipient of Dadasaheb Phalke award. She was an inspiring woman who shouldered every responsibility both on personal and professional accounts.
S.M. Krishna, former CM and BJP leader
She has achieved a great feat, apart from being the wife of a legendary actor. Even during the time of distress, when Veerappan kidnapped Dr Rajkumar, she remained composed and reached Mysuru to telephone me. I immediately requested her to reach my residence and thereafter I constantly kept in close touch with her and her family members for about 108 days before Dr Rajkumar was released. She has come up the hard way and has now left a great legacy as a globally acclaimed film producer. I pray for her departed soul.
Umashree, Women and Child Welfare Minister and actress
She is an inspiration to all women. Not only did she take care of her family and Appaji, she also extended her love to everyone in the film industry. She was the greatest fan of Appaji's work. I had lost my mother at an early age. I considered her as my mother and she would always feel proud of my work and appreciate my growth. She was a source of inspiration and we have lost her. I have lost my mother.
Ramya, actress and politician
My thoughts and prayers to the Rajkumar family during this time of grief and sadness.
Leelavathi, Veteran actress
She was a source of great support to Dr Rajkumar throughout his life and a a great human being. We shared a special relationship. May her soul rest in peace.
Jayanthi, veteran actress
God has been very unkind. First, it was Raj who first left us all and now Parvathamma. She was like the flagpole in a temple when it comes to the Kannada film industry and now it has fallen on the ground.
B. Saroja Devi, Veteran actress
I was very much part of the family and spent countless moments sharing our thoughts on various issues. She was a very kind person. She would treat everyone like family and was down to earth. She had that kind and smiling face, which will be missed dearly. She was so simple despite scaling such heights and being the wife of a legendary actor. She always chose to wear a simple saree and kumkum on her forehead. She has left us all to join Rajanna.
Upendra, actor and director
With not much of an education, she achieved so much. She is a true inspiration. We all follow Appaji when it comes to the performing arts. Like how several books have been written about Appaji's life and acting for the benefit of young and aspiring talents, more books needs to be written about Parvathamma Rajkumar to guide film makers on how to produce films in the right manner.
Kiccha Sudeep, actor, director
She was the epitome of strength. I have known this amazing lady for years, may her soul rest in peace. My condolence to the entire family. I have seldom seen a lady like Parvathamma. An example of what an inner strength can achieve and build. Prayers for Amma's soul to rest in peace.
Sumalatha Ambareesh, actress
Not many know that I was introduced to Kannada movies by none other than Parvathamma. Poornima Enterprises was the production company in the movie Ravichandra. The saying 'there is always a woman behind every man's success' wasn’t a cliche in her case. She was his anchor and strength and her contribution towards his iconic success was as important and powerful behind the scenes as much as he was on screen. My condolences and prayers go out to their family and everyone in the Kannada film industry.
