BENGALURU: Thousands of fans paid their last respects to Parvathamma Rajkumar, whose body was placed at her Sadashivanagara residence in Bengaluru on Wednesday morning.
Last rites were conducted with full state honours and Parvathamma was laid to rest beside the Dr Rajkumar memorial in Kanteerava studio on Wednesday evening, in keeping with family customs.
A host of veteran film personalities, star actors and technicians, as well as senior politicians from across party lines, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President Dr. G. Parameshwara, Mallikarjun Kharge, Anjanappa, BJP leader S.M. Krishna, Yeddyurappa, Shobha Karandlaje, H.D. Kumaraswamy, Anantnag and Ambareesh were present at the ceremonies on Wednesday evening.
Following in the footsteps of her husband, Parvathamma headed the trust that ran the Dr Rajkumar Eye Bank and helmed Shakthidhama, a Mysuru-based organisation that provided shelter to hundreds of needy and downtrodden people.
