Bollywood icon Salman Khan will celebrate his 60th birthday on December 27th, a landmark moment in a career that has spanned over three decades. With more than a hundred films to his credit, he has established himself as one of Hindi cinema’s most bankable stars, consistently delivering box-office success.

From heartfelt romantic dramas and family entertainers to high-octane action spectacles and films with a social message, Khan’s versatility has shaped his enduring legacy. His journey is not just a testament to his star power but also to the indelible imprint he has left on the landscape of Indian cinema.

Salman Khan made his acting debut with a supporting role in “Biwi Ho To Aisi” (1988) and achieved overnight fame with “Maine Pyar Kiya” (1989), which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. The 1990s saw him establish himself as a leading actor with films including “Baaghi: A Rebel for Love” (1990), “Sanam Bewafa” (1991), “Saajan” (1991), “Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!” (1994), “Andaz Apna Apna” (1994), “Karan Arjun” (1995), “Judwaa” (1997), “Biwi No.1” (1999) and “Hum Saath-Saath Hain” (1999).
In the 2000s, Salman showcased versatility with roles in“Tere Naam” (2003), “Baghban” (2003), “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi” (2004), “No Entry” (2005), “Partner” (2007), “Wanted” (2009) and “Main Aurr Mrs Khanna” (2009). The 2010s marked a resurgence with box-office hits such as “Dabangg” (2010), “Ek Tha Tiger” (2012), “Kick” (2014), “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” (2015), “Sultan” (2016), “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017), “Bharat” (2019) and “Dabangg 3” (2019). Recent releases include “Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai” (2021), “Antim: The Final Truth” (2021), “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan” (2023), “Tiger 3” (2023) and “Sikandar” ( 2025)
Salman Khan has also earned numerous awards over his career. Apart from the Filmfare Best Male Debut, he has received multiple Filmfare nominations for films such as "Tere Naam", "Sultan" and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan". His films and performances have won accolades at the IIFA, Zee Cine, Stardust and Screen Awards, while "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" received the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
Throughout his career, Salman has shared screen space with a wide array of actors. He has worked with superstars Shah Rukh Khan ("Karan Arjun", "Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam"), Aamir Khan ("Andaz Apna Apna"), and Akshay Kumar ("Mujhse Shaadi Karogi", "Jaan-E-Mann"), and frequently collaborated with stars from the 1990s including Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Govinda and Saif Ali Khan.

Salman hails from the celebrated Khan family, son of legendary screenwriter Salim Khan and film producer Salma Khan. He is the eldest of five siblings, including actors Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, and sisters Alvira Agnihotri and Arpita Khan Sharma. The family also includes his stepmother, veteran actress Helen.
