Saif Ali Khan Reacts to Adipurush Experience: I Apologised to My Son

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, who portrayed Ravan in Adipurush, has made a striking revelation that has reignited discussions around the film’s poor reception. In a candid admission, Saif shared a personal anecdote involving his son—underscoring just how deeply the film's shortcomings were felt, even by those closest to the cast.
Recalling the experience, Saif said, “My son and I were watching the film recently, and I understood that it was bad. My son gave me a look as if to ask why he was being made to watch it, and I understood the situation. I quickly apologised to him.” This moment of self-awareness reflects the widespread disappointment the film generated, both within the industry and among audiences.
Despite being based on the revered epic Ramayana, Adipurush was widely criticised for its poor execution. What could have been a powerful cinematic retelling of the story of Prabhu Shri Ram turned into a misfire, largely due to what many have described as weak direction and questionable creative choices by director Om Raut.
Saif’s remarks also highlight a broader fallout: lead actor Prabhas is believed to have dedicated nearly a year of his peak career to the project — a commitment many now view as wasted. The fact that even a key cast member publicly acknowledged the film’s flaws speaks volumes about its reception. Meanwhile, Saif recently made his Tollywood debut with Devara: Part 1, where his fiery portrayal of a villainous character earned him praise and appreciation.
