Sai Pallavi Is in Discussions, Not Finalised Yet for Kalki 2

Ever since Deepika Padukone’s exit as the female lead from the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, speculation has been rife about who will replace her. Over the past few days, rumours suggested that Sai Pallavi has been roped in for the role, sparking excitement among fans who are eager to see her share screen space with Prabhas for the first time.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sci-fi spectacle also features Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles and is one of the most ambitious pan-India projects in the making.

Responding to the buzz, the makers have clarified that nothing has been finalised yet. “There is no confirmation at this point. However, discussions are on, and Sai Pallavi is being considered for the role of SUM-80 after Deepika’s exit. The team feels she could be a perfect fit,” a source close to the production house.

The makers also dismissed reports claiming that Sai Pallavi has already been finalised and that shooting for the sequel will resume shortly. “All these are just rumours. Nothing has been locked yet. Please wait for an official announcement,” the source adds.

Interestingly, the team had also explored the possibility of roping in Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt to retain the sequel’s strong pan-India appeal. However, the makers are said to be weighing multiple options before taking a final call. “Sai Pallavi is making her Bollywood debut with Ramayana and is expected to significantly expand her fan base among Hindi-speaking audiences. This could ideally help Kalki 2 gain better mileage and business in the Hindi belt,” says another source.

An official announcement regarding the casting is expected once the discussions are concluded.
