Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana Duology Has A Budget Of Rs 4,000 Crore

This makes it by far the most expensive Indian film ever made.

Producer Namit Malhotra has confirmed that the upcoming two-part Ramayana film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, will have an astounding budget of Rs 4,000 crore. This makes it by far the most expensive Indian film ever made.

Malhotra stated that the project is largely self-funded, and they are not relying on external investors or major studios. He mentioned that many initially thought he was "crazy" for embarking on a project of this scale, especially given that no Indian film had previously approached such a budget. His primary motivation is not financial gain but to create the "largest film in the world for the greatest story, the greatest epic that the world should see."

Led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana, the star cast is nothing short of spectacular. Sunny Deol will play Lord Hanuman, while Kajal Aggarwal plays Mandodari. Joining them are Lara Dutta (Kaikeyi), Rakul Preet Singh (Surpanakha), Vivek Oberoi (Vidhyutjiva), and Ravi Dubey (Lakshman).

The first part is slated for a Diwali 2026 release, with the second part following in Diwali 2027.
