Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor in Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari Sequel, Says Chiranjeevi
Reflecting on the film’s legacy, Chiranjeevi expressed deep emotion, especially about his co-star, the late Sridevi. “I miss Sridevi very much on this occasion.

Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (JVAS), a landmark in Telugu cinema, marks its 35th anniversary on May 9, 2025. To celebrate the occasion, the fantasy classic is being re-released in a newly remastered 3D version. The original producer, Aswani Dutt, is spearheading the re-release through his son-in-law, acclaimed director Nag Ashwin (Kalki 2898 AD).
Reflecting on the film’s legacy, Chiranjeevi expressed deep emotion, especially about his co-star, the late Sridevi. “I miss Sridevi very much on this occasion. She was the heart of JVAS—her character felt like a dream. It was the first time we worked together, and our chemistry was truly special,” he shared.
Though a sequel to JVAS has long been discussed, nothing concrete ever took shape—until now. When asked about the possibility, Chiranjeevi said, “Initially, I wasn’t in favor of a sequel. But today, I’d love to see Nag Ashwin direct it with Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. The story would be closely tied to the original—it could be a dream project for both actors.”
Released in 1990, JVAS was a massive success, made on a modest budget of Rs 2 crore and grossing Rs 15 crore at the box office. At the time, both Chiranjeevi and Sridevi were at the height of their fame. Tickets priced at Rs 5 were resold for up to Rs 200, highlighting the film’s immense popularity. The film also starred the late Amrish Puri as the antagonist, featured music by Ilayaraja, and was directed by K. Raghavendra Rao (Pelli SandaD).
Trade circles are optimistic about the 3D re-release, expecting a strong turnout. Chiranjeevi is likely to attend a special screening with fans. Meanwhile, his comments about Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor potentially leading a sequel have sparked lively discussions across social media.
