Quirky Comedy 'Funky' Preponed to Valentine's Weekend for Youth Audience

Funky is described as a quirky, self-aware comedy that cleverly satirises the film industry itself

Hyderabad: The Telugu film Funky, a comedy starring Vishwak Sen and directed by Anudeep KV (of Jathi Ratnalu fame), has strategically moved its theatrical release date forward to February 13, 2026, from the original April 3, 2026.

This decision capitalizes on the Valentine's Day weekend, aiming to attract young audiences, couples, and families with its fun, light-hearted premise. Produced by Sithara Entertainments in association with Fortune Four Cinemas and presented by Srikara Studios, Funky is described as a quirky, self-aware comedy that cleverly satirises the film industry itself.
Vishwak Sen plays Komal, a popular but chaotic film director, opposite Kayadu Lohar's character, Chitra, an actress and the daughter of a wealthy producer. The film features a strong supporting cast, including Naresh, VTV Ganesh, and Tanikella Bharani, adding to its comic depth.
The movie promises energetic songs, vibrant visuals, and Anudeep KV’s signature irreverent humour, with music by Bheems Ceciroleo, cinematography by Suresh Sarangam, and editing by Navin Nooli. Buzz has already been generated by the teaser's meta jokes and bold narrative style, making the advanced February release a calculated move to secure a clear box office run ahead of other major releases later in the year.
