After facing a rough patch in Tollywood, glam diva Pooja Hegde returned to Kollywood with high hopes riding on her latest release, Retro. However, the film failed to deliver the much-needed comeback she had been banking on.
“She must be truly disappointed,” says a trade distributor. “Her role was poorly written and lacked the spark to make an impact. Her simple, retro-saree-clad avatar didn’t excite fans, and there was hardly any buzz surrounding her performance.”
Despite starring alongside a big name like Suriya and banking on a parallel release in Telugu states, the film managed to collect just Rs 1.5 crore-plus in two days—a disappointing figure for a high-profile comeback.
